How to make Polish PIERNICZKI

As we were also organizing an International Day of Food in our kindergarten, we decided to make PIERNICZKI. These are typically Polish cookies, which are prepaired especially for Christmas time. We eat them with sweet filling as well, in many flavours. The presented version is the basic for those cookies.
Enjoy!

Celebrating International Food Day in Greece (16 October)

World Food Day was proclaimed in 1979 by the Conference of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). It marks the date of the founding of FAO in 1945. The aim of the Day is to heighten public awareness of the world food problem and strengthen solidarity in the struggle against hunger, malnutrition and poverty. In 1980, the General Assembly endorsed observance of the Day in consideration of the fact that "food is a requisite for human survival and well-being and a fundamental human necessity" Here in Greece, we are known for our grapes! We make tasty wines but use the must to make different products. The International Food day,we decided to make cookies with must, we call them moustokouloura and are really tasty and healthy! You can hear a traditional children song which is called "Platho koulourakia" which means make cookies!

International Day of Food, a Recipe from England!

We have chosen a delicious recipe from England to share with you - this is something we all like to eat here! We chose a piece of music to go with our recipe presentation called 'Pomp and Circumstance' or as we call it, 'Land of hope and Glory'. This is a very English piece of music, and it is a tune that lots of English people like to sing along to. We also think it makes our recipe sound very exciting! We hope you enjoy finding out how to make our treats, and that you enjoy making them yourselves!
