World Environment Day - Energy Saving Rules
At Southwater Infant School we worked together to decide the best rules for saving energy. We drew our own pictures for each rule and used them to make our poster.
We then made a video to share our rules with everyone.

Making Our Bags!
We have begun to make our bags that we will sell to raise money for UNICEF! We began by designing the picture for our bag. Then we coloured it in. Here are a few of our designs.

Then we scanned our designs and printed them out onto special paper. We will use an iron to transfer our design onto the bag. Look - our designs have to be printed backwards!! This is so they come out the right way when we iron them!

We have lots of bags ready! We will send a bag to each of you as a gift to our friends. We hope you like them!

Fairtrade Fortnight
At Southwater we celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight. We did lots of different activities to find out more about Fairtrade. We have learned that Fairtrade gives farmers and workers a better price for their products so that they can have a better standard of living.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar in England!
We have been working hard in England to prepare our presentation for International day of Disabilities. We already knew the story of the Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, but it took us a long time to learn the title in all the languages of our partners. It was hard work! We have used the text from the book, read the story out loud and made our own items to help to tell the story. We have had a lot of fun making this presentation and we had to all work together. Thankyou to our partners for helping us with the title translantions. We hope you enjoy it!

Our Parcels Arrived!!
We were on half term during the last week of October. What a surprise was waiting for us when we got back - our parcels from our friends had arrived!
We got wonderful gifts, books and information about Zabrze from Poland.
Thankyou so much to Greece. We were so grateful for all the wonderful gifts you sent us. The parcel smelled wonderful, and we especially liked the honey and the nougat!
Italy sent us some wonderful pasta, fruits, nuts and information about where they are.
From Wales we got lots of information about the school and where the children live. We are looking forward to watching the DVD soon!
Hungary also sent us some wonderful information and gifts.
Thankyou so much to all our friends for your generous gifts. We hope you have enjoyed getting our parcels as much as we have getting yours!

International Day of Food, a Recipe from England!
We have chosen a delicious recipe from England to share with you - this is something we all like to eat here! We chose a piece of music to go with our recipe presentation called 'Pomp and Circumstance' or as we call it, 'Land of hope and Glory'. This is a very English piece of music, and it is a tune that lots of English people like to sing along to. We also think it makes our recipe sound very exciting! We hope you enjoy finding out how to make our treats, and that you enjoy making them yourselves!
